I have some old VHS tapes of my son when he was a little kid that I want
to save on DVDs. How do I get them from the tapes onto my computer's hard
drive so I can burn them? I would appreciate any and all advice as these
videos are really precious to me.
Thanks,

would guess you could.. I can't remember what the thing is called right off
the top of my head but if you need the info I can grab the package and tell
ya.. Crazyhorse.

the one I have is called GameBridge TV it does not say anything about doing
cassettes but it does say you can hook console gameso to it so you can play
& record them in real time it also has a TV tuner in it so you can watch TV
on your computer (if you hook up a TV cable to it) and it has a remote that
comes with it. it also says you can use it to convert home videos to DVD
with it. this will do all you want done for your home videos but I am not
sure it will work for cassettes but I would be willing to bet it would if
you hooked up a cassette player to it.. I have not tried so so I do not know
but it will do lots of other things.. Here is a link to see a little info on
it.
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/9923/Adaptec-Announces-GameBridge-and-GameBridge-TV/
and here is a link to Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Gamebridge-AVC-1410-USB-Cnct-Xbox/dp/B000DLBAG4

I hope this helps ya with a little more info on it and what it will do...

I have some old VHS tapes of my son when he was a little kid that I want
to save on DVDs. How do I get them from the tapes onto my computer's hard
drive so I can burn them? I would appreciate any and all advice as these
videos are really precious to me.
Thanks,

a bit more up to date. mine does not say if it is compatable with Vista or
not and this one is so if you have vista this one may be the way to go..
here is a link to that one..

the one I have is called GameBridge TV it does not say anything about doing
cassettes but it does say you can hook console gameso to it so you can
play & record them in real time it also has a TV tuner in it so you can watch
TV on your computer (if you hook up a TV cable to it) and it has a remote
that comes with it. it also says you can use it to convert home videos to
DVD with it. this will do all you want done for your home videos but I am not
sure it will work for cassettes but I would be willing to bet it would if
you hooked up a cassette player to it.. I have not tried so so I do not
know but it will do lots of other things.. Here is a link to see a little info
on it.

WHEELS   [now_showing] Off Topic - Need Help, I want to transfer VHS

Posted by: "♫{ PJ }♫" poorjohnn@cox.net   poorjohnn

Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:01 pm (PDT)

Do a search on eBay for Dazzle. It plugs in to the output from your VCR and then connects via usb cable to your computer. I have one I bought at a garage sale in a box of mixed computer cables for a dollar and have yet to use it. My son had a bunch of VHS movies that he transferred to avi format then burned them into the DVD format with winavi. He bought another brand at Sams club for about 75.00 it a bargain if you compare to what they charge to do it for you.

I have some old VHS tapes of my son when he was a little kid that I want to save on DVDs. How do I get them from the tapes onto my computer's hard drive so I can burn them? I would appreciate any and all advice as these videos are really precious to me.
Thanks,
Wheels
