How to RIP a DVD best quality 700M size.

Wonder how people do those nice 700M movies that look so good and sound great?

You don't need to be an expert, as a matter of facts is quite easy if you have the right tools.

This is a step by step tutorial for beginners (and not) that will help to achieve 700Mbytes Xvid good quality movies or larger better quality RIP (example for concerts).

Let's start by introducing the tools you are gonna need:

1. DVD Decrypter
2. Fair Use Wizard

The first step: get rid of protections and RIP the DVD.

Copyrighted DVD are protected with systems as CSS and Macrovision.
Fortunately these were broken almost immediately, after the first DVD RW capable of multi system reading came out for sale.

We are using a simple program called DVD decrypter:

In the above image we see DVD decrypter with all the DVD drives empty. If you have more than one DVD drive they will all be listed in the menu "source".

Insert your DVD to be ripped and select the correct drive, now you will see all the information regarding your DVD including the protection system.
You don't need to be concerned with any of the information you see, the process will be automatic.

Click on the yellow folder icon to choose the "destination" for your image file (ISO) and set it to be your Desktop for your convenience.

Close all running programs and click the bottom icon to proceed.

DVD Decrypter will work for a while according to your computer speed, It takes me about 30 mins. To RIP a DVD with a Quad processor at 2.4G

When finished you'll have to image files on your desktop: an ISO and a MDS.

Now your DVD is ripped and the protection is gone. You can take the DVD out of the drive, we won't need it anymore.

Second step: creating the movie.

The following instructions do not require any special knowledge of video formats but I will explain some for those who want to understand MO re.
Even tho there are many procuts that promise excellent DVD Ripping, the true is that they all lack of flexibility and result.

Using Fair Use is not as easy as, let's say, Aplus DVD Ripper, but you can't compare the results.
I never had syncronization problems using Fair Use and never got low quality results.

So let's begin:

The above image is the first screen of FairUse Wizard 2.

The first thing we want to do is creating a name for our ripping "project".
Let's call it "MyProject" and enter this name in the top field.

Now we must creating a working folder, better do it on the desktop.
So create a new folder on the desktop called "myproject".
Click the "browse" button on the "Folder" field and go to the desktop and click on "myproject" folder. The full path will now appear in the "folder" field of FairUse

Ignore any other setting and just click "Next>"

A pop up window will appear: Select DVD Drive

Now we won't be using a DVD but our image created with DVD decrypted.
So click on "browse" button in the lower field and select the image you ripped which is on your desktop.
Click OK.

Now a window will appear showing all the chains found in the DVD image.
Automatically, FairUse will highlight the longest one. Most DVD need to be ripped using only the longer chain.
To rip DVD organized in multiple chains will need to go into "advanced" mode that we will not cover in this tutorial. If you need instructions on how to RIP a DVD with multiple chains please reply to this post.

In the picture above we selected the longest chain and the right options, just do exactly as in the picture.
Now click "Next>"

Now FairUse will analyze the DVD image and create an "index" of video and audio tracks.
Unlike other programs that execute a direct RIP, FairUse uses a index which is stored in the project folder.

This allow the most precise syncronisation and best quality.
It may take a while according to your PC performances.

Once this process is finished you will be taken to another screen where you can perform simple editing option or advanced corrections such as change the format of the video, include a customized logo or a "mask", trim you video (for example if you want to eliminate titles).

Because this is a basic tutorial for beginners I will not cover any of the advanced options and continue with the simple DVD ripping process to obtain our 700M high quality XVID video file.
So just click "next>". You will be taken to another screen.

We are going to do field alignment now. To explain this in detail would require a deep knowledge of how a video is made. Luckily FairUse is a real "wizard" and can do this for us. You can readc a smallest explanation in this windows, whatever, just click the button "Auto Detect"
After a window with a progress bar finish its job another window called "auto detect field mode" will give you an explaantion of what the wizard found out and what's going to do.
What was chosen will be the best choise, click OK button, then click "Next>" in the main window.

Now here we come at the final windows and we will have to make some choices.
This is where we make the miracle and generate our high-quality video.

The first setting regards the video encoder, the choice here depends on what encoder is installed on your system. If you can choose XviD, if not DivX. If both options are not available you must download the encoders, I suggest you use K-Lite Pack.
The second setting if the size of our file. We want a 700Mbytes file so just select "size" and 700. Also remember to check the "Two Pass" option below the size field.
Immediately above the "Two Pass" check box you will see the rate of your video (around 879 KB/s).
This is pretty low compared to other ripping programs, but FairUse is able to do a good job just with this.
However you can raise the video rate by raising the size of the output file.
It's necessary for some kind of video (ex. Concerts) to set an higher video rate, about 1200 KB/s.

Completely ignore the "codec settings" option on the right.

Below we have the audio rate. If the DVD has more than one language or audio highlight the language or format you want to use.
On the right set the audio to be MP3 and 128Kb/s. Older movies without any Dolby can do well with 96Kb/s and you'll save space for the video quality.

Now let's go down to the important part: Resolution.
If you want to watch your file on PC only you can choose any resolution from the menu, but if you intend to see your video on a TV, first of all, check the "Use TV display mode" option.
This will reduce by 50% the number of choices available but you're sure your video will display correctly in full screen on any TV.
Now we have to deal with 3 parameters: Output video size, Bits/pixel and Compression.
You may be tempted to use a very high resolution, but that will force the codec to c ompress the picture more, creating an ugly result.
We have to try to choose a horizontal resolution between 500 and 520.
Once we decided that, choose the lower vertical resolution available.
In the picture FairUse highlights 512x416 with 0.169 bits/pixel and 142:1 compression.
If you are not sure how to proceed, just conferm FairUse selection.

However in this case we have an available horizontal resolution of 512 which is still accettable and vertical resolution of 400.
That will be the best.

Make sure all the other options are as in the picture (output file segments is 1)
Click "next>"

Now 2 windows will appear, one is the main FairUse Wizard windows that will show the progress of your encoding. If you have a powerful computer you can unckeck "Run in IDLE base priority" option to run the wizard with highest priority. If you choose to do so, don't use your PC to do something else while encoding.

If the time remaining is long, you may want to leave you PC alone in the night and check "shutdown computer when done"

If you chose XviD as codec another windows "Xvid Status" will appear:

You can safely close this one and DO NOT check the option "Show me the internals!" for any reason.

Now we just have to wait...

When the encoding process is finished thr final screen will appear with the name of your ripped XviD movie:

Just click finish, go into "myproject" folder and move your .AVI file out.
Erase the folder, you won't need it anymore.

All done!

i got the key gen but i can't get it to work does any one have a serieal
number for adobe acrobat pro 9 hubby need it for work and i only have the
trial version and need a crack i would be mucho appreciated
