Upgrade to atleast Nero 8...

Burn these .AVI files as DATA files on Nero to DVD.
No conversion needed. Put it on Minimum burn, and
you can get 4 or 5 movies on 1 DVD.

Thanks for reply. You just installed program, didn't add  anything else to it. Mine is not recognizing any files in pando. But music. When I add one have to change to all files. Then when it tries to open it..says not recognize file.
I don't mind buying one...but be nice if I didn't have to.
Been trying to burn a movie for a week and still nothing.

The film begins in year 2009, when there is a huge explosion on the surface
of the sun. We then see Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an American
scientist, traveling to a copper mine in India to meet his friend, who
discovered that Earth's temperature is increasing rapidly. He returns to
Washington D.C. and submits a report to his supervisor, who immediately
takes him to the president. In 2010, we see the President of the United
States tell other heads of state the situation (the world is ending) and we
also see billionaires all over the world buying plane tickets for untold
sums of money. In 2011 the original of The Mona Lisa in the Louvre is
replaced with a decoy, and is sealed away for unknown reasons

Nero Tutorial  Found this hope it helps someone

I don't know what version Nero you use, but they are basically the same in
the steps.
Open Nero, choose DATA....and click on Make a Data Dvd.

This screnn will pop up....just click on data dvd

This next screen will pop up.....click on add

In the next screen, you browse to where you movies or music, or whatever you
are burning, and as I am choosing my movies, I hold the ctrl button so i can
choose more than one.
Click add.

In this next screen you see how much more room I have, so I will go back and
add another movie.
you dont want to go past 4500 mb, or it wont burn.
when you are done, click next...

Here, I chose the burner I am using....you can name the disc too if you want

number of copies 1......(if you are doing music, and you have alot of room
left for another session later, use the allow files to be used later
(multi-session )....then you can add to the same disc later. I do that one
alot, just to clean my hard drive off, and add later to my music disc.)
click burn when you are done.

Thats it....now you are cooking!

TUT_Difference between DVD-R,+R,+RW,-RW

Posted by: "*~Patti (PS)~*" psexton312@comcast.net   psexton871

Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:56 pm (PST)

The difference between DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW explained

There's DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and even DVD-ROM! So what's the
difference between all of these different names, aren't all DVDs the same?
Well, it's not quite that simple.

Let's first start with the most obvious difference: some have R and some
have RW. The "R" stands for readable, while the "W" stands for writeable.

The main difference between DVD-R and DVD-RW, or DVD+R and DVD+RW is that
the R disc formats can only be written to once, and then it is only readable
and can´t be erased for the rest of its digital life. While RW discs are can
be written to and erased many times, they are both readable and writeable.

"R" discs are perfect if they are only needed to be written to once, such as
giving some files to a friend or transferring them between PCs. "RW" discs
have their strength in the ability to be used many times over, which is
great for routine system backups, etc. And naturally, the RW discs are
slightly more expensive than the R discs, but you'll have to decide if the
trade offs are worth the money.

Now, onto the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R. As I just described above,
DVD-R & DVD-RW are sister discs, the difference being one is writeable once,
while the other is writeable multiple times. The same thing is true for
DVD+R & DVD+RW. So the question is, what's the difference between the plus
and minus?

In order to explain this we must take a trip back in time. When DVDs were
first being developed, there was no industry standard. Multiple companies
were competing to develop what they hoped would be the dominant form of the
future.

The DVD-R DVD+R difference can easily be summarized by the following:

* The DVD-R/RW standard was developed by Pioneer, and is used primarily
by Apple and Pioneer. These "minus" discs can only be written to in one
layer on the discs surface. In addition, this format is supported by the DVD
forum, but is in no way an industry standard. DVD-R/RW discs are cheaper
than the "plus" format.
* The DVD+R/RW format is supported by Philips, Dell, Sony, HP, and Mcft.
These discs can be written to in multiple layers, giving them slightly
better and more disc storage than the "minus" format. Because of this
additional capacity, they are slightly more expensive than "minus" discs.

A couple final things to clear up is the difference between DVD-ROM and
DVD+RW, or the other DVD formats I mentioned above. The DVD-ROM drive can
only read DVDs, while the other DVD drives can read and write data to DVDs.

And naturally the DVD+RW CD+RW difference can be explained by the "DVD" or
CD" prefix. DVDs, on average, can store up to 4.7 GB of data, while a CD can
only store about 700 MB of data, or about 15% of a DVD's capacity. While CDs
are slightly cheaper, in my opinion, the benefits of DVDs are much greater.

So now that you've learned about the difference between DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW
DVD+RW, and even DVD-ROM, which one is right for you? The easiest way to
determine which is more beneficial is to watch the industry trends. A few
years ago all pre-built computers were shipping with DVD-ROM drives. Today,
most PCs have a burnable DVD drive.

I feel that the benefits of having a burnable DVD drive far outweigh any
additional costs. They store much more data, and they are ideal for storing
your home movies to watch on your DVD player.

My advice is to look at DVD burners that support all of the major formats I
ve mentioned above, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW. While a DVD drive that
supports all of these formats may be slightly more expensive, it will allow
you to use any type of DVD disc to burn to, and you'll be protected from any
industry shifts to one format or the other.

TUT_ Burning 5 or 6 Movies on One Data Disk

Posted by: "*~Patti (PS)~*" psexton312@comcast.net   psexton871

Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:56 pm (PST)

Snagged

Use this for archiving movies or to play on your
home DVD player that supports the DivX format. Several ways to check to see
if yours does. A lot of DVD players list the various formats that it will
play right on the machine itself, if not you can find it in the user manual
that came with your player and/or on the box it came in. Just look for 'DivX
and if you don't see it anywhere associated with your player, more than
likely it won't. Getting one that does is a good investment and they are
cheap at most discount stores such as Walmart, Target, etc., under $50 in
most places. At the cost of blank disks, a new machine will pay for itself
in a matter of a couple of 50 packs that you don't have to buy.

You need to burn the disk's as a 'DATA' disk and you can put up to 6 full
AVI's on one disk this way, depending on the size of individual files,
sometimes you can even get 7 movies if they are smaller files. If any of you
have burned data disks to back up your pictures or important documents to
disk, it's the same principle. This will also save you a lot of time as,
converting an AVI to DVD format can take and hour or more to do and, in most
cases, it pretty much ties up your computer from doing anything else during
that process. Burning the data disk with 5 to 7 AVI's on it will only take
minutes.

The main thing you have to remember when you do this is that you MUST either
'FINALIZE' or 'DISK AT ONCE'. Depending on which burning program you use
you will find these settings in 'SETTINGS' or 'OPTIONS' or 'PREFERENCES'.
the two main burning programs I use are Ashampoo Burning Studio, and Nero.
So I can tell you where to change those settings in those two programs.

Ashampoo:

When you open Ashampoo you want to use the first choice on the main menu,
Burn Files And Folders', click on that and then click the first choice in
that menu: 'Create A New CD/DVD or Blu-ray Disk'. Add your files and click
NEXT'. In the final stage, where you see the button to 'WRITE DVD' you will
see a button that says 'SETTINGS' that's where you change it to 'FINALIZE'
or 'DISK AT ONCE'.

Nero:

Open Nero and choose 'NERO BURNING ROM'. When that opens you will find a
drop down menu in the upper left hand corner and you want to choose 'DVD'
from that menu. In the main screen on the right, at the very top, will be
the choices for 'MULTISESSION' you need to choose 'NO MULTISESSION' and this
will 'FINALIZE' your burn.

I don't mind buying one...but be nice if I didn't have to.
Been trying to burn a movie for a week and still nothing.

I Need some help if anyone knows a little something.
Pulling my hair out here.
I have only been a member about a month.
For movies I put a brand new 500Gig hard drive in this thing..working
great.
A friend gave me a copy of Nero 6 for the burning software.
When I go to record a movie,it doesn't work.Think it is a format problem.
Most of the movie that I have been downloading are AVI.
How does one handle this problem?
In the program I see ISO ,and Udf,s
Do I need to convert or can you change Nero to handle avi formats?
I have never used Nero before either and that don't help.
Would love any help or knowledge given.
PLEASE!!!ANYONE
David

but , ive been doing this for now 7 years now and what i started with i
still use and all my movies work on ANY dvd players even the ones with out the
divx on it yea it does take a little more time i do understand that but it
does the trick all i do is convert the movie to a dvd format and then i
burn it on a dvd using nero6 i really dont think the others work well on what i
do or maybe i just havent given it a chance but what i do does work.
that's just me ...... :)

harddrive you going to be plug up to this box and turn it on .. it updated
its self that way and after it plays dvd rips music avi there just not
much it has't played for me.. and what it don't play i just convert it and
use my dvd srink to make it the size i want moving it over to my ex
harddrive, plug to my box and watch it
